Baja California achieves herd immunity: one more step towards border reopening

Almost 70% of the population is fully vaccinated against Covid-19

As had been contemplated, before the arrival of a new shipment of Pfizer and Sinovac vaccines to Baja California on Wednesday, progress was made in the application of second doses in the population of Tijuana, Tecate and Ensenada. According to the Secretary of Health in the State, Alonso Pérez Rico, yesterday 53,160 doses of Pfizer and 1,357 of Sinovac were applied, adding a total of 54,517 people who completed their vaccination process.

With these, there are already 1,881,471 people fully vaccinated in Baja California, which represents 69.79% of the population, "practically 70% of our population," said Pérez Rico, who said, "we practically reached immunity from flock".

This Friday the application of second doses of Pfizer and Sinova will continue in Tijuana, Tecate and Ensenada, at the following points:

-Centro de Gobierno/IMOS (Tijuana)

-Preparatoria Federal Lázaro Cárdenas (Tijuana)

-UABC Campus Otay (Tijuana)
